Matt
Richards - Event Director
Matt's the main Apex Challenge organiser. He was a Venture Scout in Sheffield. You're likely to find him walking and climbing around the country and he holds several outdoor instructing qualifications. By profession, Matt works as a journalist in Hull.
David
Pape - Event Organiser
Dave's the technical guru. He's the man behind the computerised scoring systems and online entry forms, as well as working to plan the events. Dave was also a Venture Scout in Sheffield. He now works as a software engineer in Leeds.
James
Webster - Event Organiser
Webbo looks after the Apex Challenge website as well as designing our documents. Matt and Dave first got him involved in Scouting. He now wishes his mum had let him be a Scout! In his spare time he's a journalist in Leeds.
ONLINE ENTRIES TEAM
Our dedicated online entries team look after all the event entries as they
arrive.
Duncan
Horton - Entries Coordinator
Duncan's been one of the Apex team since the start and has now taken on the role of looking after the event entries. He first got involved in Scouting as a youngster in Sheffield. By trade he's an international jet-setter selling tools.
Nancy
Alford - Entries Assistant
Nancy's photography can be seen all over the Apex website. She heads up the team taking pictures and is often found hanging from trees and crawling around to get the best shots! She works as a medical photographer runs her own photography business.
TECHNICAL TEAM
These are the guys who make sure all our cables go where they should.
Richard
Garrett - Technical Manager
Richard's been helping out at the Apex Challenge events since the very beginning. You can see the look of dread on his face when we suggest something we want to do that makes the spaghetti if cables linking all our equipment together even more complicated!
Michael
Sharp - Technical Assistant
Making all the generators, speakers and lights work together for a whole weekend's got so complicated it's no longer a one-man job. Step in Michael Sharp! He works with Richard to make sure when we press a particular button it does what we hope it does.
EVENT CENTRE TEAM
These are the people who make the main centre running as it should.
Nadine
Snowdon - Event Centre Manager
Nadine's in charge of keeping the Apex Event Centre running smoothly. She makes sure everything's where it should be so that the core team can spend there time ensuring the event itself is going according to plan. When she's not busy with the Apex Challenge she works for Leeds City Council.
VIDEO TEAM
This is the team that films the Apex Extreme and edits together the DVD
each year.
Kevin Keane - Video Journalist
Kevin's a regular at the Apex Extreme events filming all the action as it happens for the DVD which gets played at the main Results Presentation. He always ends up with sore feet from travelling to the farthest places in the playing area to make sure he's covered all of it. He works for the BBC as a journalist.
Philip
Norton - Video Journalist
Philip spends all day out and about with Kevin covering the action at the Apex Extreme events. He knows that if he misses out just one of the main activity bases it'll be that exact one we ask "Did you get any shots of..." when gets back. In his spare time away from the Apex Challenge he's a video journalist with the BBC.
