October 2007 EventOctober 2007 Event - Apex Extreme

We travelled to the world famous Ilkley Moor for the second Apex Extreme. It was our most Northerly location yet and attracted record levels of interest. 60 teams competed for the prizes and took part in a packed weekend of activities and adventure include the return of the Glowstick Challenge plus new activities on the Saturday evening and Sunday.

October 2006 Event October 2006 Event - Apex Extreme

Our first ever Apex Extreme took place in October 2006. The main feature of it was the standard Apex Challenge event with an extra hour for teams to collect points by completing activities and visiting other control points. Around it were loads of new elements for teams to top up their scores including a Glowstick Challenge, a Balloon Race and a grand finale.

May 2006 Event May 2006 Event - Overnight Challenge

The Apex Challenge returned to Sherwood Pines Forest Park in May 2006 - the same location it had used exactly 12 months before. There were well over 60 teams at the Overnight event. There was still plenty for both newcomers and returning teams to enjoy with 14 main activity bases, many of them completely new for this event.

September 2005 Event September 2005 Event - Daytime Challenge

We gave away more prizes at the September 2005 Daytime Challenge than ever before. Karrimor sponsored the event and donated enough rucksacks so that the top three teams in both the Explorer and Network competitions could win them. Around 40 teams took part in the event at Froggatt and White Edge.

May 2005 Event May 2005 Event - Overnight Challenge

A record 67 teams took part in the May 2005 Overnight Challenge. Sherwood Pines Forest Park was a new location for the event. The dense woodland and added difficulty of navigating in the darkness made this event a real challenge for those taking part. Some new activity bases, most notably the bouncy castle hoops challenge were there alongside old favourites.

September 2004 Event September 2004 Event - Daytime Challenge

The Apex Challenge broke more records at this event than ever before in its history. There were more teams, more activity bases and more points scored by the winning team. Held in the Peak District's Burbage Valley just outside Sheffield, more than 200 Scouts worked their way around 14 activity bases to compete for loads of fantastic prizes.

May 2004 Event May 2004 Event - Overnight Challenge

The Apex Challenge opened itself up to Scouts from right across the country as well as teams from Yorkshire and the North of England. The 50 or so teams who took part enjoyed an event that featured challenges on water for the first time. The prizes given away at this competition were easily the best ever.

September 2003 Event September 2003 Event - Daytime Challenge

Held on Stanage Edge, Scouts at the 2003 Daytime Challenge were treated to some brilliant activity bases. Surely none of them who arrived early that Saturday morning could have visualised walking over the top of a hill to find a small tent and inside a computerised disco dancing challenge for them to test out the skill and coordination.

May 2003 Event May 2003 Event - Overnight Challenge

The Apex Challenge held its first Overnight Challenge in May 2003. South Yorkshire's teams dominated the league table of winners as they competed in many activities that were similar to the ones included in the first event, but made all the more difficult to compete with complete darkness around them. Map reading by glowstick was definitely an acquired skill!

September 2002 Event September 2002 Event - Daytime Challenge

The first ever Apex Challenge event saw well over twenty teams compete in the Burbage Valley just outside Sheffield for the honour of being the first to win this new and exciting competition. The event set out to completely break the mould of all events that had gone before and become one that features on as many Scout unit calendars as possible.
