Using electronic scoring for the first time at the May 2008 Overnight Challenge meant we could use the data showing what time each team was at different bases and controls to plot a real-time map of where each was and when.
This video shows a graphical representation of where each time was at any point during the competition, based on the times they visited each of the activity bases and controls. Each coloured spot represents a different team. The pie chart with the numbers in the centre is counting up the hours from when the first team set off.
As you can see, there is a cluster of activity around the starting and finishing point at the beginning and end of the event with teams much more spread out during the middle. This information's handy when planning your strategy of where to go and when!
